The TIM Research Project

Picture: Real picture transformed by data compression into imagined picture

Starting point of the VideoTIM-project are results of the research on the area of cognition by G. Matschulat.

The human brain uses a strategy to reduce the quantity of data. While a healthy eye has 100 million optical sensors our brain works with less than one millionth of this quantity a few seconds after the perception. This knowlege has been converted into the VideoTIM-software and electronic. The pictures on TIM and VideoTIM are similar to the reduced data in our brains.

Grafic A: VideoTIM with mini-camera Grafic B: VideoTIM with GPS-System
Grafik C: PC workplace with VideoTIM, braille-line, speechoutput, scanner and printer

The three grafics above (A, B, C) show the serveral application areas of TIM. Application A shows VideoTIM as it works today. Application B shows the combination between TIM and a GPS-system. The user will find a street-map on the TIM-display with his present position. Application C shows TIM as a typical device on a blinds pc-workplace.

Picture: Flat-Piezo-Module by G. Matschulat

The TIM bases on the developement of the flat-piezo-module invented by Gunnar Matschulat. This module makes it possible to built  the Tactile-Interactive-Monitor (“TIM”) with a tactile quality never known before.
